ALL IN THE NAME OF MENTAL HEALTH
About Cycles For Awareness
Mental health has always been prevalent in society, and it was heightened to extreme levels during our nationwide covid lockdowns in 2020-2021. Most people had avenues of dealing with it, opening up about it, whilst some didn't, and suffered in silence.
It really shon a light on the importance of checking in on your mates and loved ones, and arguably there still is a big stigma on peoples mental health battles.
Cycles For Awareness is here on a mission to try and change this.
We have partnered up with our mental health organisation LIVIN, which preaches reducing the stigma of mental health, with their main slogan- IT AIN'T WEAK TO SPEAK.
We couldn't resonate with this more, this is the reason why we stared Cycles For Awareness, in the hope to encourage everyone to speak up, and feel confident in doing so.
Along with checking in on mates and loved ones, and speaking of your battles, physical activity has also been proven time and time again to improve people's mental health (welcome endorphins!)
So the idea of raffling bikes was a pretty easy choice.....
All it takes is a conversation.
Let's reduce the stigma of mental health one conversation at a time.
Who are we donating to?
LIVIN MENTAL HEALTH ORGANISATION
LIVIN is a non-profit mental health organisation that was founded in 2013 in loving memory of our friend and a great man, Dwayne Lally. Dwayne took his life after living in silence with a mental illness.
Like a lot of people, Dwayne lived in silence because of the stigma that surrounds mental health and he didn’t know how to ask for help. Everything we do is about empowering people to speak up because It Ain’t Weak To Speak®. We want to be proactive in combating mental Illness, through championing mental health; encouraging preventative action and help seeking before things become unmanageable.
